Rolf’s German Christmas Bar NYC | The Most Grandiose Decorations & Drinks

Rolf’s is seriously one of the most magical places during the holiday season. The annoyance of a small space is immediately overtaken by the decadence of the decor. Once you have taken in the space it feels like you have been engulfed by an entire Christmas tree. No need for the grandiose size of something similar to the Rockefeller tree, this quaint bar is all you need during the holiday season.

Christmas at Rolf’s: I couldn’t find an exact answer online, but I am assuming that it takes well over 10 hours to decorate almost every square inch of the place. A majority of the decor is actually covering the ceiling as you can see from the image below. It’s not like it is just a sea of Christmas trees and garland around the walls.

A heads up that their website is very old school. It honestly looks like it might not be the real website, but trust me this is the official site! If you are looking to make a reservation you will not be able to use a third-party app such as Open Table. You will need to get on the phone (with patience) to make a reservation.

Make sure that you either call very far in advance and or have a very open schedule if you want to host a larger group, and or sit for a meal.

The bar is first come first served. As with any NYC bar you will want to shoulder to shoulder traffic amongst everyone and push your way up to get a drink.

We got the spiked apple cider, and the vanilla spiced eggnog with bourbon. Whatever you choose, it will not disappoint! The red velvet martini is something I will have to try when I go back. Full holiday cocktail menu here.
