After the first half of the day spent exploring monasteries, it was time to get driving again for a few hours over to Itea. We still were in the countryside, but getting closer to larger cities. Itea is a smaller town with under 5,000 people, and sits on a beautiful body of water.

Today was also Greek Independence Day. Their independence day is March 25th, and it signifies the battle against the Ottoman Empire (the Turks) coming to an end. Greeks all over the world celebrate this day as the Turks invaded various parts of Greece during multiple time periods for over 400 years! Because the town was smaller, there was not a large parade production or any celebration that we could see for Independence day.

Itea’s water is very clean and people come to the beaches often in the summer months. This is the perfect city to relax in if you want to enjoy warm weather without being bothered by loud kids or drunks.

We were able to meet up with my sister for once! All of us walked along the water, explored the shops, and sat down for some cocktails. I loved seeing the tropical trees, and there was even a horse and carriage in town open for rides. The carriage embodied Cinderella, it was a little spark of Disney World in Greece with the palm trees and the transportation suitable for a princess.

Once we had a chance to enjoy the beautiful day outside sitting by the water, it was time to check into the Nafsika Palace Hotel. Later this evening we would be attending the second concert for Minnetonka High School in the city of Amfissa. The town is called Amfissa because she was a mistress of the god Apollo and the daughter of Macar.

My Look: I was still in the same outfit that I had on from visiting the monasteries, I just removed the faux shearling jacket due to the weather heating up! In order to have my bandeau stay on more securely, I also tied the fabric around my neck to create a stylish crop top.
