My TRVL Porter experience during NYFW last year was such a time saver that I just had to re-subscribe this year for NYFW again. I submitted my time slot of when I needed the dress for, my style, and the body parts that I did or did not want to show off. I was initially torn between a red ruffle dress, the yellow one that I did choose, and a white and gold toga looking dress. I typically choose red as my pop of color, so I decided to go with the French Connection Sleeveless Halter Neckline dress. It also had a subtle high-low feel as it was not lined down to the bottom.
The show that I wore this dress to was a more casual showing than Spring Studios on Varick street. Minika Ko Presents KOVASKY was the showing at the PHD Lounge. Minika Ko is known for making pieces that are high performance fashion – flexible, comfortable and best of all… machine washable. This KOVASKY line started back in 2016, and was made for the modern working woman on the go. Check out the collection for yourself here.
We were confused as to how the fashion show was going to take place in this penthouse bar. There were couches along the walls, a DJ booth in the back, and a few couch and table areas down the middle in line with the bar. They cleared a small walk path down the middle as a makeshift runway for the models. Being front row was truly “front row” as the models were literally inches from us. I enjoyed seeing the line as it included pieces that I did not have to mentally re-configure to find out how I was going to wear or incorporate a more abstract piece of clothing into my everyday lifestyle. The fabric also looked very comfortable yet form fitting at the same time.
My look: I was taking monochromatic to a whole new level. Looking around my room, there was a handful of yellow to actually choose from. Although it was not full on faux- fur jacket weather, I chose to pair the dress with a yellow fur jacket, black puffy headband, a yellow little bag that I received from the Tmall China Cool Show the night prior, a YSL bracelet, and white booties.
