The ambition to make it to, and in NYC will lead people to do crazy things. With a hefty price tag on any Manhattan hotel (don’t even think about trying to find a cheap hotel in Chelsea or Tribeca), it pays off to have a friend. A friend with an open couch, a studio apartment with an open floor, or a couch bed.

For NYFW I had some friends Maria and Sydney from my alma mater the University of Minnesota Twin Cities come and stay on my Couch Bed.  They were here to intern in PR for NYFW. Back in the days of my first shoebox sized Brooklyn apartment, friends would willingly sleep on a small space on my bedroom floor. At the end of the day, it is just one fun big sleepover.

Funny thing…well actually painful. The morning after this night Maria was at her second job during fashion week, and while she was steaming a garment the steamer exploded on her! It took her a few seconds to realize what had just happened since she was still in shock. During that short window of time, her hand became covered in third-degree burns. The doctor wrapped up her hands, gave her pain meds and burn cream. She was also told that she would need to go to a plastic surgeon to assure that there would be no nerve damage during the healing process.  But at the end of the day, this did not stop her from completing the week full of activities.

My look: I went for all black to allow the J’adore jean jacket to stand out.
