Queen of Queens: Title inspired by: the show King of Queens (Disclaimer that I have never seen)
My roommate and I had come across this “Queens” lite up sign on Instagram, and wanted to get our own photo in front of it. We both had recently moved out of Brooklyn, and into Astoria. To get to Astoria it is just a few stops past Lexington Ave/59th Street, ending in Queens. We initially wanted to move to the Upper East side, but found great places with more space for under $1,500 each. Queens is great and very family oriented. Fun fact: Astoria is known as “Greektown USA” because so many immigrants came into Astoria and ended up staying here. There are plenty of Greek schools, restaurants, and festivals.
The name of the restaurant/bar with this sign is:
The agenda behind the name? Their About Page basically just tells of them wanting to have some flair when it comes to being a unique cocktail bar. Really great prices check out their menu: Here
If you have never been to Astoria, I highly suggest it! It is essentially like Manhattan but at a slower pace. We ended up going to dinner at The Highwater. The ambiance of the restaurant was tropical and casual, it is considered a “Tiki Bar”. We all got different drinks off of their cocktail page, and loved all of them. I got the one in the classic tiki cup, it did not disappoint. For dinner I chose the curry chickpea lettuce wraps, they were amazing!
