Bralettes have grown immensely from their previous role as a simple undergarment. Instead of hiding under sweaters, or slightly showing beneath a lace halter with a loose sweater, bealettes have become my new favorite layering piece. I have been seeing a handful of bralettes with lace detailing that starts to move up over the collarbone area, and or covering the shoulders. Capsleeve bralettes (just as it sounds, creating a cap of fabric over your shoulder for a small sleeve) are the perfect add-on item if you need to quickly add a layer due to weather or a change of venue. They also make your look 100% unique, as I doubt anyone would be able to find a dress with the same detailing.
Out of various Capsleeve bralettes I chose this one because it has an actual bra built into it. Although I can get away with not wearing a bra, the whole garment just felt a lot more sturdy. So many fast fashion items are cheaper, but with that obviously brings a cheaper feel to the fabric altogether. The back of the bra is also stunning. The back is open, with a tied bow closure at the top.
I had seen this bralette styled on Instagram, but a look that stood out to me was it being paired with a sweetheart neckline black cocktail dress. I looked around my closet for something similar that would show off the sleeves on the bralette. I ended up choosing a velvet spaghetti strap dress with a large slit. Mixing the lace with the velvet created an elegant feminine look. Tieing in the mid-calf socks and booties allowed the look to become more casual and tie in with the crowd at the Louis Vuitton Volez Vougez Voyagez Exhibit.

This bralette is sooooo pretty! Love the lace and the bow in the back. So clever to layer it with a dress!
