Overalls were a thing in the 90s, and they are coming back strong. The 90s had more of a grunge feel, therefore overalls had a baggy look to them. In the clearance section, these Paige Denim overalls at Saks OFF 5th caught my eye. They are form fitting with a flared bottom, and there were a whole lineup of them, so they must came in a late shipment as there weren’t any other overalls to choose from. When in doubt there was a feeling a spontaneity to try these.
Paige Denim is known for being longer than most. Being 5’6” meant needing to pair the look with some heels. I found a pair of black booties that were just about the length of the pants so that my legs would look the length of the denim. The ruffle shirt added was to bring in a girly element. I didn’t want to have yet another layer of clothing with the overalls being so tight. Instead of adding a tank under this sheer shirt, I added a red strappy bralette with flowers over he Center. This also added a subtle pop of color. To finish off the look I added a magenta Marc by Marc bag, and let one strap hang loose from the overalls.
A friend and I took to the streets of Soho to test out the look. One thing I wish I would have had (which we did look for at Zara and a few other stores) was a newsboy cap! Future post to come with this hat. The newsboy cap has been making its way across instagram.
