I was rapidly adding items to my cart during the last few days of the Nasty Gal going out of business sale. A girl like me cannot turn down ten dollar cute items. In no time at all I can meet that free shipping minimum.
This kimono online was one of the typical online shopping scenarios when the image does not match the product that ends up in your mailbox . Titled “After Party by Nasty Gal Hattie Lace Wrap Dress”, it looked to be a high quality going out party dress that fit with the description. Due to the 70% off liquidation sale for Nasty Gal I bought this for $26.00 instead of the almost $100 price tag originally. The picture online looked as if there was an inner lining to the “dress” and it all just went together perfectly. (I really wish their was an image in my order receipt and that the website was not down to show you this!) Anyways, I opened up the package and found this super long, polyester, sheer robe contraption. It is cute don’t get me wrong, I just had a hard time envisioning where in Minneapolis I was going to be able to wear this.
Solution: I waited until I was apartment hunting in New York to piece together an outfit with this. I ended up wearing it over a knitted Derek Lam sweater dress, and pairing it with a Valentino bag.
WARNING: The amount of dust and dirt that this kimono collected from the grounds on NYC was actually concerning. Where long garments here at your own risk. Thankfully no one, not even myself, ended up tripping on it.
